Watch Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) Free Movie Online, 63 year old Keaton is perfectly cast  in the role of a lifetime as Riggan Thomson  , an actor best and forever known for his  long-ago role as the  2-time superhero star “Birdman”- an actor who refused to do a 3rd “Birdman” because the script sucked. Sound familiar?? Keaton originated the  “Batman” role  in ’89  and  starred in the sequel “Batman Returns” in ’92 but turned  down 15-mil to star in  “Batman Forever”  because he didn’t like the  script and its family-friendly turn with a new director.  Does casting get any more perfect??!!!

Thomson is at a crossroads in  his life. He desperately wants a comeback but he wants it on his terms, as a serious actor.  He wants to be respected.   Thomson is  days away from opening  his first play- a very serious drama which  he wrote, directed and  cast himself as the  star.  In his best role in years , 45 year old  Edward Norton co-stars as  the incredibly difficult and obnoxious Mike  Shiner,  Thomson’s co-star in  his play. The play’s cast is rounded out by an always great Naomi Watts and Andrea Riseborough. Zach Galifianakis is Thomson’s lawyer/producer and best friend.   Every one of them becomes unhinged . All of them  have meltdowns.  Except for  Amy Ryan, who  shows up briefly as Thomson’s ex-wife.

Oh- and  before we leave the meltdown lineup,  even in this cast of standouts, Emma Stone  gives a career-defining performance as Thompson’s just-out-of rehab daughter, Sam,  who reluctantly serves as his personal assistant, ultimately teaching him the new ways  to  fame: social media. What an amazing performance!!!

Keaton and Norton have some great moments together- one  in particular-with Norton  mostly undressed. Keaton  is left to parade around  in his tighty  whities in a straight-from-an-actor’s-nightmare scene.  Norton bares even more.

This is a dark comedy and  oh-so sharp satire of the entertainment biz.  It’s a very “inside” look at the biz. Whether that’s  too much so for a mass audience will be answered at the box office.  With almost all of action set in a  Broadway theater, the  2 hour film gets a little  laggy. But the acting reels you right back in.

This is one you won’t soon forget and it probably  won’t be forgotten come  awards season,  which is right around the corner.

The old adage, "they don.t make them like they used to," has become increasing popular over the years, and it clearly pisses Edward Norton off to an extreme degree. Apparently the Fight Club star is fed up with uppity older patrons of Hollywood looking down on recent cinematic glories. Over the weekend, the 52nd New York Film Festival came to a close and with that brought us into the final stretch of the festival season. As such, I wanted to discuss the fest a little bit and see what we can ascertain about how the Oscar race was shaped, if it was at all. As usual, the awards season is still taking shape, so whatever went down at Nyff could only have a temporary effect on the Oscars, but it’s certainly worth talking about a bit, so let’s do that now… Here are five things in particular to take away from Nyff in terms of the awards season: 1. Inherent Vice debuted and puzzled audiences – Yes, the World Premiere of Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest was a big deal, and rightly so. That being said, it was an odd and triply film that defies easy description, which rarely translates into Oscar success.

Coming out of the gate from the Cannes Film Festival in May, buzz was heavy on Steve Carell’s transformative performance as John du Pont in “Foxcatcher” and for Timothy Spall, who won the lead actor prize for “Mr. Turner.” The Telluride and Toronto film festivals revealed a couple other contenders in Brits Eddie Redmayne for “The Theory of Everything” and Benedict Cumberbatch for “The Imitation Game.”

We’re not even touching on the many films yet to be seen that could bear contenders, from Jack O’Connell in “Unbroken,” Bradley Cooper in “American Sniper,” Oscar Isaac in “A Most Violent Year” and David Oyelowo in “Selma.
